Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991, is also known by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. She dropped her debut EP for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she was able to begin gaining attention. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she continued to make music available on the web, including her own issued single Bound. Her music was also featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes and at Sweat It out on 21 July 2015. J. Cole asked her to be a part of his collaboration on Rihanna's reference. In the following season, the music was circulating all over Dreamville. Her contract was signed officially with Dreamville Records on 8 December. She appeared on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II which featured the track Backseat alongside Cozz. On October 21 2016 she released her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song. She also performed at the opening of with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she opted to appear in two songs featuring her labelmates EarthGang with Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. The music video followed by a music video in September. She released her second single, Grampa on November 9. In November 13, she came out with two additional singles, the No One as well as Pedigree. Later, she was featured to the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on February 26 2019 for her debut album of the same name. The song was followed by the music video which debuted that was released on February 20, 2019 and was viewed by 3 million people on YouTube within just a week. In December 2018, she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
